Allan Houser (1914 -1994) became famous throughout North America and Europe for his bold statements in stone and bronze. A Fort Sill survivor of the Warm Springs Chiricahua Apache tribe, Allan Houser was immersed in the history and community of Indian Peoples. He was an illustrator of books and a painter in gauche, watercolor, oil and acrylic. Allan Houser received the National Medal for the Arts, in 1992.
